The department of mathematics at Dr. Ghanshyam Singh Mahavidyalaya, varanasi is committed to promoting excellence in mathematical education, research aptitude, and analytical thinking among students. Since its establishment, the department has played a significant role in developing logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and scientific temperament in learners. The department started the bachelor of science (B.Sc.) In mathematics programme in 2001 with the objective of providing strong foundational knowledge in pure and applied mathematics. To further enhance higher education opportunities in the region, the department introduced the master of science (M.Sc.) In mathematics programme in 2014. The department is supported by qualified faculty members dedicated to quality teaching-learning processes, mentoring, and academic development of students.
The curriculum is designed to meet university standards while encouraging conceptual clarity, computational skills, and research orientation. The department regularly organizes academic activities such as seminars, guest lectures, workshops, quizzes, and extension activities to enrich student knowledge beyond the classroom. Special emphasis is given to the application of mathematics in interdisciplinary fields, competitive examinations, and career development.
