PSYCHOLOGY
The Department of Psychology at Dr. Ghanshyam Singh Mahavidyalaya was established in 2001 with the introduction of Psychology as a subject in the institution. The department offers B.A. and B.Sc. Psychology courses at the undergraduate level. The M.A. Psychology program was started in 2014, and the Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy, Counselling and Guidance was introduced in 2025 to promote higher education, research, and professional training in counselling services.
The department is headed by Dr. Dinesh Vikram Singh. Other faculty members include Dr. Smrita Singh, Mrs. Ritu Singh, and Dr. Shaziya Shekh. The department has a well-equipped Psychology Laboratory with modern psychological tools, tests, apparatus, and updated questionnaires for practical training and research work.
The department has achieved excellent academic results over the years. One student received a Gold Medal from Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, and six students secured positions in the Top 10 merit list in the previous session.
Many pass-out students are working as counsellors in various institutions.
The department regularly organizes seminars, workshops, field visits, and awareness programs to enhance students' practical knowledge and professional skills. Overall, the Department of Psychology continues to contribute significantly to psychological education, research, counselling, and mental health awareness.
