BOTANY

Botany is a core branch of science which deals with the plant sciences and research related to the plants. After the establishment of Dr. Ghanshyam Singh Mahavidyalaya, The Department of Botany started in the year 2001, with aim to develop a strong foundation in classical and advance botany along with a modern tools and teaching techniques. Presently it is running with B. Sc with Botany as one of the major papers. Further, in 2005, with M Sc Botany also introduced successfully with a diverse discipline such as Microbiology, Phycology, Mycology, Plant Physiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, and Environmental Botany and advanced specialization. The M Sc Botany course encourages dissertation work and research projects. It promotes research aptitude through seminars, project work, dissertation work and exposure to instrumentation like Microscopy, Chromatography, centrifugation, plant tissue culture and many more. According to NEP 2020 dissertation /research work was also introduced to UG and PG courses, which enhance high standards of education by promoting research aptitude and presentation skills in students.
